"Residential Burglar Sentenced to 18 years in Prison"
Macon County State’s Attorney Jay Scott announced today that Jimmie White, 33 of Decatur, has been sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for burglarizing seven homes in Decatur in April and May of this year. White entered pleas of guilty to seven counts of Residential Burglary and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Timothy Steadman on August 28. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Dobson.
White broke into residences on North Union, East Garfield, West Center, North Oakland, North Church, North Monroe, and North College Streets, stealing electronics and jewelry. Some of these items were later sold by White at area pawn shops.
“For a short period of time Mr. White terrorized this neighborhood,” Scott said. “The outstanding work of the Decatur Police Department, especially the efforts of Detective Jeremy Appenzeller, made his successful prosecution possible. This sentence will keep society safe from Jimmie White for a long time.”
